The students have been investigating Structure and Function during our first PLTW unit. We learned about the difference between structure and function; then applied that learning to engineering our own beanstalks, houses and paintbrushes. We read Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs to inspire our designs for beanstalks and houses. Our last activity was to create a device that could be used to transfer paint to a surface. After planning and engineering the products, the students had a chance to test their paintbrushes on the house that we had build in our classroom out of cardboard boxes. This was a wonderful unit that brought fun and inspiration to the class!
We have been reading and writing stories about Gingerbread the past several weeks. We finally got a chance to decorate our own cookies and have some fun along the way. Thank you to all the parents who donated decorating items and helped with event! Our class had an amazing time during our school's Fall Expo. We learned lots about the weather that we were able to share with everyone who came to visit!
